Eden provides expert guidance on nuclear fuel cycle processes and economics for both conventional and advanced nuclear materials.
- Advice on nuclear fuel manufacturing and uranium conversion and deconversion.
- Enrichment technologies and fuel fabrication processes, including MOX.
- Nuclear fuel cycle economics.
Our specialists in fuel cycle chemistry and materials processing bring hands-on experience across civil and defence applications. We support the design of new processes and the optimisation of existing operations to improve performance and efficiency.
From detailed process development through to front-end design and high-level economic analysis, we provide integrated support across the full fuel cycle. This enables you to make informed, joined-up technical and investment decisions.
With experience advising governments and supporting major programmes, we bring an international perspective and robust analytical capability to strengthen business cases and underpin confident investment decisions.

We provide expertise and experience in scientific and engineering delivery for a wide range of clients to support the nuclear fuels industry, with particular emphasis on uranium fuel manufacture and recycling.
Our team delivers research, development, and innovation across experimental projects, technology demonstrators, and digital modelling and simulation. We assess the maturity and readiness of emerging technologies, conduct horizon scanning to identify future opportunities, and foster collaboration across sectors.
Our team has the experience and capability to support macro-economic studies used to evaluate new uranium processing facility proposals or refurbishment options for all existing and novel fuel types, frequently used to support a Final Investment Decision (FID). Our collaborative approach ensures we bring the best ideas and perspectives from other sectors into the nuclear field.

Shaping a Resilient Nuclear Fuel Supply for Future Energy Needs
Eden NE led a strategic assessment on nuclear fuel supply for a major new-build programme, including international shipment of the fuel. Our team investigated key material factors that underpin nuclear safety and security — from criticality and radiogenic heat to chemical impurities and radioactive decay products.
To shape a resilient supply strategy, we evaluated the performance and potential of both existing and new facilities for producing nuclear fuel precursor materials. Partnering with cost-estimating and transport specialists, we mapped out capital and programme costs for multiple supply options and explored the practicalities of domestic and international fuel material transport.
Our work provided the essential evidence base for the client’s future Business Case – fully aligned with the UK Green Book and the Five Case Model – supporting long-term decision-making on secure, sustainable fuel supply for the next generation of nuclear power.
Eden NE supports a number of clients in current and future development of uranium conversion facilities for a wide variety of fuel and intermediate products, led by Paul Gilchrist as a Subject Matter Expert.
Examples of support include detailed process chemistry predictive modelling, hands-on experience of large scale uranics processing and strategic assessment of nuclear fuel supply options. Our team supports key underpinning factors such as nuclear safety and security — from criticality and radiogenic heat to chemical impurities and radioactive decay products.
