About Peter Walmsley

Peter Walmsley

Principle Consultant

Peter Walmsley joined Eden NE as a Senior Consultant in January 2024 with experience of regulatory compliance and decommissioning study management. Peter has 7 years' post-graduation experience working in the Nuclear industry and a year's experience in the Pharmaceutical industry as part of his Chemical Engineering Master's degree.

His first three years in Nuclear were spent supporting decommissioning projects at Sellafield Ltd. and later spent 9 months supporting a project to demonstrate that Low Level Waste (LLW) could be recovered from a Plutonium Contaminated Material (PCM) feedstock. He delivered the BAT assessment for this facility, along with technical studies to enable radiometric equipment selection (both for sentencing and hand tools to enable operations).

Peter has expertise in operational and environmental modelling. He has also delivered optioneering studies, engineering feasibility assessments, and facilitated workshops. Most recently, he conducted an independent verification of the Rolls-Royce SMR prospective dose assessment. He has supported projects at AWE, and was primarily responsible for leading the operational modelling for a capital build facility through the transition period from concept to detailed design. Peter is responsible for both setting the direction of the team and managing weekly workloads of individuals. He has provided the underpinning evidence that the plant capacity requirements of the facility can be delivered and presented his work to all levels of the business.
