Dr Jessica Goodman joined Eden NE as a Senior Consultant from June 2024. Jessica has experience in radiological risk assessment and a PhD in Environmental Science. She is a Member of the Society for Radiological Protection (MSRP) and a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science. Jessica's PhD focussed on the impacts of radiation resulting from the Chernobyl disaster on resident wildlife populations.
This included a combination of field study, molecular work, and statistical modelling. The overall aim of the study was to contribute towards reducing uncertainty in estimating radiological impacts to wildlife. During her role as a Radiological Risk Assessor with the Food Standards Agency (FSA), Jessica analysed data for radiological releases via aerial and aquatic pathways, which included work on the assessment of radiocaesium in Japanese foods imported to the UK following the Fukushima nuclear accident.
Jess has expertise in using radiological assessment tools (ADMS, ERICA, PC CREAM and HotSpot) and bespoke dose assessment modelling. She has worked with a variety of clients including regulatory bodies, suppliers to the nuclear industry, and waste treatment services. Jess has also supported ESC developments, BAT assessments and options assessments.
